Fort Thomas Farmers Market

Weather policy

Lightning and Storms

Light to moderate rain is not considered severe weather and the market will remain open on rainy days.

If severe weather (thunder, lightning, tornado, etc.) is observed at the market or within a 6-mile radius via radar, the market will close. All customers and vendors should vacate the park and either remain in their vehicles or take shelter in the Mess Hall.

Vendors and customers will be notified when lightning is 10 miles away that they will need to take shelter  when it reaches 6 miles distant.

The severe weather must pass (though rain may continue) and radar must show that all lightning is 6+ miles away.

If the severe weather continues for an extended period of time, or if more severe weather is expected during the market hours, the market manager will cancel the market for that day.

Heat

If there is a heat advisory with a heat index of 95 degrees or higher, the market will be open for normal hours but vendors may choose to not participate as long as market staff is notified by 12:00pm the day of the market.

Wind

If there are sustained winds over 18 mph, or wind gusts of 25mph,  the market will remain open but we will require vendors to take their tents down or remove the canopies.

All announcements regarding the opening or closing of the market will be made through our social media.
